Dexter Hockley Kindness Award

Dexter Hockley passion was dogs and helping others - Dexter spent many years teaching YRKC members Good Citizen Dog Training and always with a smile - his hours spent in the YRKC community training with a purpose for young people to go forward with a well-trained dogs and confidence. In his memory we have launched a new award for dog clubs/shows/societies throughout the UK to nominate an individual in your club who has demonstrated an exceptional level of kindness within their club and community.

Dexter showed kindness and compassion throughout this working life and dog world . We know friendships and communities are very important for everybody’s health and wellbeing, and in memory of Dexter this award celebrates that.

Award Criteria

  • Be awarded to an YRKC member who has demonstrated an exceptional level of kindness within their dog club

  • Nominations should provide details of what the individual has done, and the impact it has had on others within their club

Award Inspiration

  • Individual may have gone above and beyond to help others at the club

  • Started a kindness initiative within the club that has made a big difference to the club and dog/s

  • Have they done something extraordinary to help their local club?

How to nominate: 

  • Nominations open in November 2026 and you will need to complete the nomination form.

  • You may only nominate one individual at your club/show/society (and you can't nominate yourself).

  • All nominees must be current YRKC member.

  • Overall winner will be invited to Crufts 2027 and be presented their award in the YRKC ring.
