Introducing the New Heelwork to Music Liaison Council

Caroline Knight

Caroline Knight (formerly Johnson) has been involved in dog sports for over 25 years. She started in agility with her first dog, Sophie, before finding a passion for Heelwork to Music with Sunny, who quickly rose through the grades. A career highlight was qualifying for Crufts in 2016 and placing third behind top competitors. Now competing with Starry, Skiffle’s granddaughter, Caroline is thrilled to return to the sport. Professionally, she is an HR Manager, trained mediator, and change management specialist in the soft drinks industry. As Chair of the HTM Liaison Council, she promotes openness, collaboration, and community support

Dawn Heaton

Dawn is the founder of Preston Trick Dogs and All Star Dogs, where she has spent over a decade helping owners build strong, positive relationships with their dogs through training and sport. She competes in Heelwork to Music, Freestyle, Obedience, and Tricks, and is passionate about promoting creativity and connection in dog sports. With a background in management, training, and recruitment, Dawn brings strong leadership and communication skills. Committed to professional development, she has trained with over 80 trainers worldwide across a range of disciplines. She looks forward to bringing her experience and passion to the Liaison Council

Emma Higgins (Nee Reynolds)

Emma has been training and competing with her dogs in various dog sports for twelve years, starting with her Labrador Millie in 2013 in obedience and Heelwork to Music (HTM), a sport she loves for its accessibility to all breeds. She has worked with gundogs, a collie, a lurcher, and a dachshund. A few years ago, Emma began judging and enjoys building confidence in others. Professionally, she has held executive communications roles and is now CEO of a consultancy specialising in dog products, publishing titles like Dog Training Weekly. Emma joined the liaison council to support the sport’s growth and community.

Emma Stock

Emma has over nine years of experience in dog training and runs her own dog walking and pet sitting business, “Dogs and Fairy Tails.” She teaches Heelwork to Music and agility at The Win Venue in Wellington, Somerset, and holds a BSc (Hons) in Animal Behaviour from the University of Exeter. Emma competes in Heelwork to Music, Agility, and Obedience, with a passion for inspiring young handlers. She helped establish Heelwork to Music Juniors and organises junior training days to support their growth. Emma is dedicated, enthusiastic, and committed to promoting Heelwork to Music and supporting the community.

Laura Reynolds

Laura has been involved in Heelwork to Music for over 25 years and has spent most of her life training dogs. She currently competes in HTM with her border collie, Cooper, and has experience in agility, rally, and obedience. Laura is a committee member of Canine Freestyle GB and the owner of Heelwork to Music UK, a platform offering news and resources for handlers of all levels. She joined the HTM Liaison Council to give back to a community that has been a significant part of her life and is excited to help support the sport’s growth and development.

Richard Moss

Richard has competed in Heelwork to Music and Freestyle for several years, following 20 years in competitive obedience. He has worked with three Border Collies—Nell, Ben, and his current dog, Jett. A qualified judge for HTM, Freestyle, and Obedience, he also serves as a Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Examiner and Trainer. Richard has held roles including Chairman, Head Trainer, and Secretary at his local club. As a member of the World Dog Press and a Crufts Ring Party photographer, he captures key moments at shows. He is committed to promoting HTM, especially in rural areas across the UK.
