With Crufts on the horizon, YKC are pleased to bring back the popular pre-Crufts handling training day at The Kennel Club Building, Stoneleigh. With a new training programme, this is the perfect opportunity for YKC members to receive expert training from previous YKC Handling Crufts judges, senior volunteers, and trainers. At the end of the training day, we will also hold a YKC Handling Qualifying Competition for Crufts 2027.

Venue: The Kennel Club Building, Stoneleigh Park, Coventry, Warwickshire CV8 2LZ

Parking: Free Parking by the main Kennel Club building.

Facilities: Toilets

Refreshments: Please note that lunch is not provided, but there will be hot / squash drinks available to purchase ( we can fill up a recyclable cup if you have one).  Please bring water bottles with you.

Programme

9:30 – 10:45 – Training Session one (there will be rest time within this session)

11:00 – 11:45 – Educational session (dog rest)

12:30 – 1:45 – Training Session Two (there will be rest time within this session)

2:00 – 2:45 – Educational Session (dog rest)

3.00 - End

3:15 - Handling competition starts

There will also be a YKC Grooming Qualifying Competition for Crufts 2027. Timings and booking to be announced separately.

 YKC Important Event Regulations:

Members under the age of 18 years old must be supervised by a parent/guardian during the day so you must stay on site at all times during the event and you cannot drop and leave. Parents should also be on hand to hold or look after dogs during exercises that do not require the dog.

This is a training event and will take place inside. Please make sure you wear comfortable and appropriate clothing and footwear. You can bring chairs with you and dog crates. If you are taking part in the Crufts qualifier you will have time to change into show suits.

Photography and Filming

Please be advised that Young Kennel Club members may be photographed or filmed at events, either individually or in a group and that these images may be used for Kennel Club purposes only. You will be asked to complete a form on the day to opt in or out of any photographs or filming.

Dog Welfare

Dogs must be at least 6 months old to attend.

Dogs must be on a lead unless training requires them to be off lead.

No person shall carry out harsh handling of their dog at any time during the event.

No dog which has contracted or been knowingly exposed to any infectious or contagious disease during the 21 days prior to the event, or which is suffering from a visible condition which adversely affects its health or welfare is to be brought to the event.

Please make sure you clear up after your dog at the venue.

Child Protection

Anyone attending the training event or any of the competitions who is under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
