Associates of the Royal Kennel Club are expected to have contributed in a significant way to at least one of the canine activities supported by the club. Prospective associates may have shown sustained and continuous active participation either as a successful breeder or owner of dogs recognised in The Stud Book, or perhaps as a member or committee member of a society registered with the Royal Kennel Club.

Other possible means of demonstrating involvement include: as a senior member of the Young Kennel Club; as a successful exhibitor, competitor or judge at shows, trials, agility or other competitive events; any other way that shows a commitment to the world of dogs.

  • Candidates’ names are then published in The Royal Kennel Club Journal in order that any interested parties may consider and comment on the application
  • Final approval of the election of associates then rests with The Royal Kennel Club Board
