The Royal Kennel Club (RKC) is calling for breeders to apply for Find a Breeder, a new online service designed to help breeders connect with prospective puppy owners who share a commitment of canine health, welfare and responsible breeding.
The searchable online directory will allow puppy seekers to easily find breeders who meet specific eligibility criteria, defined by the RKC, and make contact during the research phase of their search. It will also enable breeders to build waiting lists for planned litters, fostering lasting relationships that support informed decisions and positive outcomes for all parties.
Find a Breeder has been developed following feedback from our communities and to address a gap in the journey of purchasing a puppy. Feedback from breeders and puppy seekers highlighted the importance of creating greater opportunities for prospective owners to research their chosen breed, connect with breeders and begin conversations earlier in their search. While the RKC’s existing Find a Puppy service allows future dog owners to find available litters, there has been limited opportunity to engage with breeders before puppies become available.
The new service requires breeders to apply via an online application form, which is then reviewed against defined criteria, including meeting the Good Practice health standard for relevant litters (where applicable) and breeding only breed standard colours.
