Following on from the announcement of Helena Hutchings-Brooks as the Young Royal Kennel Club (YRKC) Chairperson, the YRKC has also announced a new vice chairperson this year, David Griffith.

David has been a lifelong dog lover and previously took part in the YRKC, attending events and discovering a passion for working dogs. Over the past fifteen years he has volunteered with stewarding in the YRKC ring at Crufts, assisted at activity weekends and training sessions, and contributed to events such as Discover Dogs. Through all of this, he has been a mentor to many young members. He is currently on the Reading and District Kennel Association committee, organising and delivering shows.

David has a particular love for the Bracco Italiano, including enjoying judging the breed and previously served on the committee for the Bracco Italiano Society.

David said: “It is both an honour and a privilege to be appointed Vice Chairperson of the Young Royal Kennel Club. Having grown from a young member into a long-standing volunteer, I have developed a deep appreciation not only for the organisation itself, but for the young people at its heart. Their enthusiasm, commitment, and passion are what ensure the future of our dog community.

I look forward to supporting the Chairperson in delivering a strong and inclusive vision for the future of the Young Royal Kennel Club, growing membership, nurturing talent, and ensuring that future generations continue to benefit from the same opportunities, experiences, and sense of belonging that have shaped my own journey.”

Alongside the Chairperson, Helena Hutchings-Brooks, David will oversee the updating of the Management Team structure, with the introduction of two new working parties: the Events & Volunteer Development Working Party, which will support the wider Management Team on events, contribute to event development and enhance volunteer opportunities; and the Competition Working Party, who will support the wider Management Team in delivering competitions and contribute to the development of competitions.
