The Young Royal Kennel Club (YRKC) has announced that young dog lovers will once again have the opportunity to attend the YRKC & Scottish Kennel Club (SKC) Activity Weekend, an annual celebration of young dog handlers.
Running from 17-19 August, this event is perfect for those who wish to spend the weekend having fun with their dogs and fellow members. Held in association with the SKC, a full programme will be created for each member, with training in agility, handling, rally, obedience and hoopers, in addition to fun social activities during the day and evening.
Alongside its schedule of events for 2026, the YRKC is currently reviewing its membership opportunities and will be consulting with members and stakeholders to gain a better understanding of the value and impact of its offering, enabling it to realign its future plans.
As part of the review, there will not be a full week-long summer camp this year. On 30 July there will be a single Qualifying Day for Handling, Obedience and Dog Grooming.
This will also allow more time to plan and promote future activities, while ensuring the YRKC’s programme continues to reflect the interests of members across all age categories.
The Young Royal Kennel Club (YRKC) Chair, Helena Hutchings Brooks, said: “This period of consultation will give us the opportunity to listen to members and ensure that future YRKC activities continue to reflect their interests and priorities.
