Choosing a puppy is a big decision, but finding the right breeder is just as important. The Royal Kennel Club today launched a new Find a Breeder service, helping prospective puppy owners connect with responsible breeders and start building a relationship before a litter is available.
The searchable online directory enables puppy seekers to find breeders who meet specific eligibility criteria defined by the RKC, start conversations with them before a litter is born, and potentially join waiting lists for future litters. With cute faces online and immediate availability often driving puppy searches, the Royal Kennel Club is encouraging prospective owners to take a step back and put responsible breeding at the heart of their search, launching this new service that allows them to connect with responsible breeders before puppies are available.
Designed to complement the RKC’s existing Find a Puppy service, which lists available litters, Find a Breeder supports prospective owners at an earlier stage of the puppy-buying journey. Rather than waiting until puppies are available, prospective owners can now connect with breeders who specialise in their chosen breed at an earlier stage of their puppy-buying journey, giving them more time to ask questions, learn about the breed and find out about plans for future litters.
Breeders featured on the service have applied to join and are reviewed against criteria defined by the RKC, including meeting the RKC’s Good Practice health standard for relevant litters (where applicable) and breeding only breed standard colours.

Find a Breeder has been designed to give puppy seekers greater confidence by connecting them with breeders who meet Royal Kennel Club-defined health standards.
“Breeders also benefit from being able to gauge future demand, build waiting lists and develop strong relationships with prospective puppy owners before a litter is born.
